FUSION Social Club March 27
FUSION Social Club on March 27, at 10 AM, will feature writer/performer Carolyn Meyer and Barry Simon. Carolyn is about to launch her original solo show MOTHERHOOD. WHAT A BITCH! She and her director Barry Simon will be sharing their experiences collaborating while taking Carolyn’s piece from page to stage. Of particular interest is the ability for collaborators to move forward while respecting  differences in approach and interpretation. Casual conversation can continue at Novel Point Coffee from 11:00–11:30. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.

CAROLYN MEYER
Carolyn Meyer, writer, storyteller, and erstwhile stand-up comedian, met Barry Simon a half-dozen years ago when he was directing The Liars Game. Barry had a thirty-year career in Hollywood, editing, directing, and producing stories before arriving in ABQ. When she decided to up her game and write her first solo show, naturally she asked Barry to be her director. Before producing The Liars Game, he had produced concerts of the Gay Men’s Chorus of New Mexico and worked in local community theater. Don’t Call Me Young Lady opened at FUSION | The Cell in 2019. She called on him again for The Old White Lady Tells It in 2020. And now two old pros are coming together for Motherhood. What A Bitch! – opening at FUSION on April 28.

BARRY SIMON
Barry Simon had a thirty-year career in Hollywood, editing, directing, and producing stories. Upon arriving in Albuquerque, he produced concerts of the Gay Men’s Chorus of New Mexico and worked in local community theater. Then, he created The Liars’ Game, a monthly storytelling game show where he helped the storytellers create their stories and the audience had to guess who the liar was. They were frequently wrong. Currently, he helps storytellers in the bi-monthly Duke City Story Slam shape their tales.
