Opening Reception for Friends of the Orphan Signs (FOS) Retrospective. An immersive retrospective to commemorate revitalization work done by FOS to abandoned road signs along historic Route 66. It featured a compilation of photos and ephemera of the many projects done over the years by FOS including 8' vinyl banners; images of poetry on aluminum sign material; light box signs; as well as interactive components.

PERFORMANCES

ACT I

Celloquacious
Celloquacious, plays electroacoustic cello, utilizing looping and effects, while employing extended techniques. Her style of cello performance has developed over four decades of Classical training, performing across multiple genres, and through composing contemporary music. Keely is the Founder/Principal Creative Director of Amused LLC, Arts and Developments. Her healing music holds space for the audience, and is inspired by deep-time in Nature and by contemplative silence. Keely was awarded a 2020 NMMA, was a 2021 ISC Semifinalist, and was accepted to 2021 NYCEMF. Keely is currently a UETF Resiliency Residency recipient through FUSION for 2022-2023.

Spanish Broom Flamenco
Spanish Broom presents its first, strictly music performance with Dolores Garcia on vocals, Caro Acuña on vocals and cajon and Estevan Pacheco on the guitar.
Spanish Broom is an Albuquerque based Flamenco dance and music collaborative. We consist of 9 members of various backgrounds and disciplines. We perform, choreograph, arrange and compose original pieces. Our Mission is to sustain a collective of artists, whose collaboration is a base for creativity, accessibility and financial support. We strive to share our art and encourage our community to create with us.

ACT II

Duke City Swing
The Duke City Swing Dynamites will be performing an original choreography, a couple of common line dances, some partner dance spotlights, and a social dance demo; all vintage swing and jazz dancing.
The Dynamites are the performance team for Duke City Swing, an organization that hosts vintage swing lessons, social dances, and live music events. We’ll be performing the classic solo jazz line dances the Tranky Doo and the Shim Sham, some original choreographies, and an improvised social dance demo. Because “it don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that swing!”
