FUSION Theatre Company is elated to announce our 2023 Spring Season lineup! Featuring Life X 3 by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton; The Two-Character Play by Tennessee Williams; and The Seven short works fest!
Life X 3
by Yasmina RezA* | March 23–April 2
Thank you for your tremendous support of live professional theatre! The run of LIFE X 3 is sold out.
“…an elegant enigma with triple variations.” —Michael Billington, The Guardian
If you could do it over, how would you do it? Does the dog get the bone? Will the cow jump over the moon? Can Polly finally get her cracker? Playwright Yasmina Reza (Art; God of Carnage) spirals her characters—Henry, Sonia, Inez, Hubert—into a time/space continuum of repetition, redundancy, and revelation within the most intimate of relationships and their elemental ties to the universe. A few bottles of Sancerre are drunk along the way. This comedy of chaos, directed by Jacqueline Reid, stars Jen Grigg, John San Nicolas, Alicia Lueras Maldonado, and Jeff Gonzalez.
*Translated by Christopher Hampton
The Two-Character Play
by Tennessee Williams | May 4–14
“…a vivid haze of vaudevillian grandeur and harsh reality.” —Cameron Kelsall, Broad Street Review
Written in 1969 and revised constantly during the final years of Williams’ life, The Two-Character Play, follows a traveling brother-and-sister act, Felice (Ross Kelly) and Clare (Jacqueline Reid), as they find themselves abandoned by their company, isolated in an old theatre, and locked in by their distrust of the outside world. As we emerge from a global pandemic, the insularity and the dependency of Williams’ siblings ring true in many of our life experiences. And like Williams, many of us long for a time when trauma transforms individual experience into higher collective purpose—manifesting our best lives. Laurie Thomas directs.
The Seven Short Works Fest
The 17th Annual Fest | June 8–11
FUSION Theatre Company presents The Seven! The Seven is one of the nation's premiere short works festivals. The Seven features seven fully produced world premieres, utilizing seven different directors and a professional ensemble cast. The scripts are read by a jury of theatre professionals (blindly, without any identification of the playwright), and the seven highest scoring scripts will be produced. This year, the jury will select from scripts based on the theme: “The Elephant in the Room.” This short works festival culminates in one evening of theatre featuring seven world-premiere plays! You won’t want to miss Albuquerque’s beloved annual theatrical event!
