ANGELS & VISIONS Exhibit by PAULINE EATON, NWS
Before her death in 2021, watercolorist PAULINE EATON presented FUSION with ninety paintings to inaugurate the opening of its large art venue. For a year, her installations alternated with those of other NM artists. Today, her exhibit can be viewed during open hours of Novel Point Coffee in FUSION | The Cell, during public FUSION events, and by appointment. Her art is typified by her vision, her subject matter, her dynamic style, and her mastery of watercolor technique. Pauline painted many images of angels, most of them self-portraits. She had a rich inner life in which primacy was given to direct experiences of seeing and feeling rather than theologizing or settling for orthodox tradition and dogma. Her paintings are large (Vine of Visions is ten feet tall). In 1987, she painted several that were seven-by-twelve feet and were the largest watercolors in the world at that time (two of these will be shown in the January installation).
