FUSION Social Club will welcome actor, director, and scholar Matthew Yde on Wednesday, 1/24, at 10 AM. Dr. Yde has taught theatre history, dramatic literature, and theater criticism at Ohio State University and the University of New Mexico. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.

ABOUT MATTHEW YDE
MATTHEW YDE is an internationally recognized authority on Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw. His book, BERNARD SHAW AND TOTALITARIANISM: LONGING FOR UTOPIA, was described in the JOURNAL OF BERNARD SHAW STUDIES as “the most significant single-author study of Shaw written in the past decade.” He has a PhD in Theatre History, Literature, and Criticism from The Ohio State University. His contemporary adaptation of Shaw’s play, MRS. WARREN’S PROFESSION, was staged under his direction in 2018 at Aux Dog Theatre, retitled MRS. WARREN’S PROFESSION 2.0. He also directed the world premiere of ASHES CROSSING YELLOW LINES at the University of New Mexico and WAITING FOR GODOT, THE DESIGNATED MOURNER, and WILHELM REICH IN HELL at Ohio State. For FUSION he directed, “Woman on the 97th Floor” for the 2019 short play festival, THE SEVEN. Formerly an actor in Chicago, Matt co-founded Theo Ubique Theatre Company, where he played leading roles in LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES, BETRAYAL, CRIME ON GOAT ISLAND, THE LADY’S NOT FOR BURNING, THE DEVIL’S DISCIPLE, and others. He also appeared at Steppenwolf Theatre and toured the US with the National Players Classical Touring Company. Dr. Yde has taught theatre history, dramatic literature, and theater criticism at Ohio State University and the University of New Mexico.
