Improv New Mexico presents An IMPROV4NM “Improv Masterclass” December Weekend Workshop Series: DEVELOPING IMPROVISATIONAL SKILLS with Cody Dove. 

Learn how to improvise through creating relationships and exploring your creative gifts. Drawing on his extensive experience in comedy, this class led by Cody Dove (an alum and 20-year veteran of The Second City), will help you enhance your confidence, adaptability, and spontaneity on stage – and in everyday life. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your craft, this class will embolden your work through the essential techniques of active listening, contributing creatively, and collaboration. As the creator of New Mexico’s longest-running improv show and training center, Cody brings a wealth of knowledge and practical insights to each session. Join us to unleash your creative potential!

NOTES: In this December Weekend Workshop Series, 2-day workshops are offered over 3 different weekends. The workshops will meet for 3 hours on Saturday and 3 hours on Sunday. On Sunday, the workshop will culminate in a 30-min student performance for invited guests! 

Registration is $250 per workshop.

Improv New Mexico is thrilled to announce a scholarship opportunity for each of Cody Dove’s exclusive workshops! This scholarship is designed to support individuals who are passionate about learning improv but may face financial barriers. Improv New Mexico is offering 1 scholarship for each workshop.

What’s Included:

  • Full access to the 2-day workshop (6 hours of hands-on training).

  • 30 min Performance Opportunity

  • The chance to learn from a 20-year alum and veteran of The Second City and one of New Mexico’s finest comedic talents!

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR CODY DOVE

Cody Dove is an award-winning comedian, actor, and host renowned for his dynamic performances and contributions to improvisational theater. Cody has both taught and performed for The Second City over two decades in a variety of productions (mainstage revues, an original member of The Second City’s ‘Improv All-Stars,’ over 120 performances at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.), and as an instructor at every level of their training program. In addition to his stage work, Cody has appeared on television (AMC’s Better Call Saul, Amazon’s Outer Range). Cody’s live performances blend stand-up comedy with spontaneous theater, showcasing his versatility and improvisational skills. He has shared the stage with such talents as Fred Willard, Colin Mochrie, Bob Odenkirk, Jim Belushi, and Katy Perry. He’s been on tour with The Price is Right LIVE and The Wheel of Fortune LIVE for the last year, but he is very excited to return to New Mexico and lend his talents to Improv New Mexico’s statewide programming, IMPROV4NEWMEXICO™ (IMPROV4NM™).
